CHS Inc. is an outstanding agribusiness and co-operative, supplying innovative products and services to farmers and customers across the globe, located in the US.
They asked us to find a VP of International Finance after finding it difficult to identify the right calibre of leader through other channels.
We had a good sense of 'what good looks like' from previously appointing several different finance roles with their Chief Financial Officer.
This role required a multi-lingual finance leader with a proven track record in supporting a variety of markets, most notably in LATAM where conditions are often volatile.
Champion of change needed
Our partner wanted someone experienced in driving transformation for the Finance function, bringing together a common language and consistent way of doing things within a complex matrix and economic environment.
Whilst being a change advocate, the candidate must demonstrate integrity and be inclusive in bringing people with them on the change programme at CHS.
We majored the search on our strong international network of finance leaders in the Americas, presenting a good longlist of candidates aligning with the brief.
The key sectors targeted included Agricultural Fresh Produce, Food and Ingredients and we specifically tested candidates change agility and experience by reviewing different case studies.
Connecting the dots
A talented finance leader was identified based in Mexico with previous experience working in Minneapolis where the HQ is based.
Due to the lengthy timings associated with US work visas, the process was tightly managed to make the relocation happen smoothly.
The executive has now onboarded successfully and is positively impacting the growth of a multi-cultural team and collaborative culture within a transforming organisation.
